Hoarders returns to A&E for its second season at the end of November. The popular reality series focusing on compulsive hoarders who excessively collect things, from the worthless to the unsanitary. Unable to break free from their overwhelming collections, hoarders often find it difficult even to walk through their possession-filled homes.
Each one-hour Hoarders episode will feature two compulsive hoarding cases who have been unable to overcome hoarding on their own. As each hoarder is counseled by medical professionals, he or she will be assisted in attempting to clean the home. Some hoarders succeed while others face setbacks.
The first season created a large base of fans who helped make it the number one non-fiction series among adults ages 25-54. Season two brings new hoarders to the spotlight in order to help them overcome the mental disorder known as hoarding with the assistance of medical professionals.

Helping Hoarders Overcome the Compulsive Need to Hoard
While A&E provides medical professionals to assist with the cases it televises, friends and family in real-life hoarding situations may find it difficult to find help. A&E provides a list of potentially helpful hoarding treatment centers on its web site.
Recognizing hoarding signs and symptoms is an important first step in determining if a loved one is truly a hoarder. While family may wonder how to help a hoarder, it's best to first consult with a doctor or mental health professional for guidance. In cases where the hoarder's health is in jeopardy, the appropriate local authorities should be contacted.
